independence avenue in southwest along other streets are also closed until noon today. dallas cowboys defensive tackle josh brent will appear in court facing possible manslaughter charges after crashing his car and killing his teammate, jerry brown. brent released a statement to his agent that said, quote,my devastated and filled with grief for the loss of my close friend and teammate jerry brown. i will live with this horrific and tragic loss every day for the rest of my life, end quote. police say early saturday morning brent was driving when flipped the car. officers say the car was on fire and brent was pulling brown from the vehicle. he died a short time later at at hospital. brown was a linebacker on the practice squad. more protests expected in egypt. morsi said yesterday he's anulling a controversial decree that gave him complete power over the country's judges. however, he said that a

referendum on a draft constitution will go as planned next weekend. demonstrators say the constitution does not protect religious rights or the rights of women. the controversy surrounding egypt's constitution sparked dozens of people marched from the white house to egyptian embassy yesterday. they say they want a separation of church and state and the people of all religions should feel safe in egypt. >> he has drafted a constitution for his people and for himself and we're here to protest against that. we want a constitution for everybody in egypt. we want a constitution for the muslims, for the christians and every single citizen in egypt. >> many of those that attended that protest say they're not even from the d.c. area. a lot of this was generated on social media so people came from as far away as new york and new jersey. american and afghan forces rescued a doctor. top of commander of u.s. forces in afghanistan said joint forces

that country. the storm went out to sea but made a u-turn and forcing the country's northwest. it could bring heavy rains, strong winds and possible landslides in the mountains. a popular website is coming under fire for reselling tickets to the sold out 12-12-12 concert benefiting those affected by hurricane sandy. so stub hub is reselling tickets. the roling stones, alicia keys and other top bands are slated to play. proceeds will benefit the robin hood foundation. some people are upset scalpers ra raising prices to make a buck. stub hub says it will donate 100% of service fees and commissions for this event to the robin hood relief fund and goes on to say sellers listing tickets have the option to donate their proceeds to the fund among other charities. >> also backlash from the new

these raindrops across parts of kentucky and tennessee, these are also moving in our direction. they're about 12 hours away. those rain showers will be arriving here around 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 tonight. that's why rain remains in the forecast. not just for today but coming up overnight tonight. a rainy start. most of our afternoon will just be cloudy and damp and drizzly as we wait for the next patch of rain showers to come through. tomorrow, wet and cloudy but more coming in tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night is the actual weather front comes through. once is clears the area, sunshine will start to come back out. we'll be chilly for the upcoming week but a chance to dry out. today, a rainy start.

drone strike killed at least four people including a top al qaeda commander in the western part of pakistan. military intelligence officers say the drone struck a home in north waziristan. this is the second attack in four days to kill an al qaeda leader in afghanistan. nelson mandela is resting comfortably in the hospital. jacob zuma says he visit with him and he's doing okay. 94-year-old mandela was admitted to the hospital for routine tests. a spokesperson says he needs routine medical attention because of his age. former george h.w. bush is waking up in a texas hospital. the hospital specs person says the 88-year-old continues improving but will not be released this weekend. another update is expected tomorrow. the nation's 41st president has been in the hospital for more than two weeks, undergoing treatment for a bronchitis-related cough. no word on when the former president will be released from the hospital. we're learning more about the nurse who took her own life

following a prank call. police released a photo of 46-year-old jacintha, the mother of two school children worked at the hospital where the duchess was being treated for severe morning sick. she was the first to answer the call from a pair of radio deejays, pretending to be the queen and prince charles. she transferred the call to a nurse looking after the duchess. >> i suppose the standard of what is too far might be the old fashioned standard of, would you want somebody to do this to you? >> the chairman of the king edward vii hospital said the prank was extremely foolish. the radio hosts have been taken off the air. history in washington state, the first same-sex couples are officially tying the knot today. hundreds of couples picked up marriage licenses add midnight on thursday but the three-day waiting period means today is the first day they can get

married. some county courthouses opened at midnight and several local judges are donating their time to help happy couples exchange views. police are looking for two men who shot and killed a 21-year-old man in montgomery county. they say jesse compos died in his apartment in july drive in white oak friday afternoon. they say two men forced their way into the apartment. >> they forced him to allow them to enter and once inside they shot and killed mr. campos and fled. >> if have you any information on this case, you're asked to call montgomery county police. police are looking for two people who attacked a cab driver in the district early yesterday

morning in the 900 block of euclid street northwest. more than 400,000 wreaths are on their convey to locations nationwide as part of the wreaths across america campaign. around 100,000 are headed right here on arlington national cemetery. started 20 years ago when a wreath company in maine had 5,000 extra wreaths and couldn't sell them. the company's owner decided to ship them to arlington. it's just grown into a nationwide event. a different kind of cold case in maine as police hunt for a real grinch. a supermarket puts a christmas tree outside with a tag representing a child who needs a christmas gift. surveillance video shows someone carried the tree to the truck and drove off. >> everybody in found can't believe it, shocked that -- i mean, they stole the tree, not

last week our own barbara harrison hosted the sixth annual adoption foundation hosted by freddie mac. she got a chance to answer questions and help those waiting for permanent families. >> reporter: the ball room was packed with people, many who said they first got interested because of wednesday's child. >> you planted the seed for us to think about adoption so we adopted our first son because of the show. >> we wanted to come here and see what's here and -- so we can adopt, working on adopting the second child. >> reporter: freddie mac created the expo to help potential adoption parents learn about adoption. >> you're foundation has been working very hard to find adoptive homes for children in foster homes. there are plenty more children that need homes so we'll keep that the as long as they can. >> reporter: some people came because they said they might like to adopt some day. >> it's been my little dream. >> we've been passionate about

the bears may give birth soon. that's a picture of billie jean, an andean bear. she's pregnant with two small cubs. she built a nest and staying inside more and eating less. necessity say that's the same way she acted last time she gave birth to two healthy cubs in 2010. andean bears are on the limited species list and only 200 left in the natural habitat. >> billie jean says the bear in the cage nex to him says they're your kids, no, they're not. remember the >> we're full of zingers today. >> i can't believe they have sonograms at the zoo. who wouldn't like two bear cubs. media sensation the minute they come out. for us. kind of bear-like weather outside. you need a thick fur coat to stay on the inside because not going to be a pretty day to be outside at all. that being said, good football weather, no doubt about that.

outside, there's the look at how the day appears now. that's how it looked when the sun came up and that's pretty much how it's going to look when the sun goes down. gray and wet and kind of a sloppy day to be outside today. had a pretty good round of showers around the area first thing this morning. those are lifting out but we'll be stuck with the cloud cover for the remainder of the day. northeasterly wind at 10 miles per hour. that's going to keep those temperatures pretty muchw- for drizzle and fog around for much of the afternoon as well. current temperatures, mid-40s in hagerstown and winchester. a little milder down across central virginia. they made it into the middle and upper 60s yesterday. even they'll be stuck in the 50s today. there's your sunday day planner. chilly, wet, foggy and soggy for almost all of your sunday. the same story out at redskins/ravens game today. kickoff is at 1:00. cloudy and wet outside. so4t!hd06county,l the stadium, do a little tailgating, have west gear ready to go.

you can see it on storm 4 radar. the heaviest and steadiest of the showers, frederick county, carroll county, those raindrops are outbound. these raindrops west of fredericksburg, culpepper, madison and orange. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a break in the action coming our way. it will still be cloudy and drizzly outside but the steadier rains will be gone for at least a little while. this next batch of rain down across kentucky and tennessee, that's about 12 hours away. if it stays on track and on pace. so, we have more rain chances coming in for after sundown tonight. you can see the rain lifting out for now. a rainy morning will turn into a cloudy and drizzly afternoon today. warm front just down to our south. it startss8@ surgeçxugh the5=dar tonight. vt wk as it comes through, it will follow the heavier band of rain showers out. you'll notice temperature may start to rise overnight tonight and into tomorrow, temperatures will surge into the 60s tomorrow. off and on shower chances through much of your monday but i think we'll front-load it.
